Party Wall Surveyor

A party wall surveyor acts on behalf of a building owner or adjoining owner to agree a party wall award. A surveyor can be anyone who is not a party to the matter.

Although a party wall surveyor liaises with their appointing owner and puts forward their preferred outcome, they do not act as the representative of the respective owners.

If they dissent, an adjoining owner has the option to either appoint their own surveyor, or agree to appoint the building owner’s surveyor as the Agreed Surveyor. The Agreed Surveyor acts impartially and fairly to produce a Party Wall Award to resolve the dispute.
